What is Myofascial Release Therapy?

Myofascial Release (MFR)

Myo = muscle Fascial = fascia Release = letting go

Underneath your skin lies a vast interconnected web of a white, sticky substance called fascia. It runs from the tippy top of your head all the way to your toes. It connects everything in the body. Fascia is what holds all the organs in place inside your body, and it’s what encases each muscle and muscle fiber.

Working with the fascial system is working with the entire body in 3 dimensions. Movement habits, repetitive stress, daily activities, trauma and surgery all contribute to the development of fascial holding patterns (adhesions), and can lead to pain and dysfunction in the body. MFR is uniquely suited to resetting the body and reversing pain and dysfunction patterns. MFR uses localized stretching techniques and varying amounts of pressure ranging from feather light to more intense and deeper aimed at releasing adhesions throughout the body. Each individual body dictates what needs to be addressed, and how much pressure and time the area needs to release. Often, very

light pressure is used and yields truly profound changes in the body. Every session is customized to meet the needs of the body on the day of the session. The amazing part is…once an adhesion is released, it stays released.
